Wolfgang Spillner began his career in freight forwarding in the German port city of Hamburg. After completing an all-round apprenticeship, he worked for several years in the area of exports to North America before moving to Toronto in 1974.
After two years in Toronto, he was selected to open a branch office in Calgary.
Having done this very successfully, he changed sides to become the Manager of Transportation for a major exporting company. Here he had the opportunity to use his knowledge first hand in the area of whole vessel charters and project logistics. In 1979, he accepted an offer from a major German forwarding company to build up their Canadian operation, and he returned to Toronto.
Over the next 20 years, Wolfgang Spillner not only built up a respectable organization in Canada, but was later also put in charge of all company's subsidiaries in North and South America. With his home base still being Toronto, he traveled almost continuously in his responsibility for the offices in Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela and USA.
Finally, in 1998 he was co-founder of Albacor Shipping Inc.
